Armor and Weapons

First off, my space-techy stuff is all based off a game called Master of Orion. That game changed my life.

Anyways..

Armor

This is the levels of armor Rayotian ships use. Starting from highest quality to lowest.

The highest quality armor Rayotia is made of Adamantium. A very damage resistant armor. It can take a few blows from some of the most powerful 2nd Class weapons (Not talking about weapons that can destroy planets.) The resources required to make this armor is quite expensive and hard to get, so only some of the most elite fighters will use such armor.

Neutronium Armor.  It is moderately less powerful then Adamantium, but it is less costly. It does however, still cost a pretty penny. It can take a few good shots before the armor is ripped apart. Only "Key" ships are armed with such armor.

Zortrium Armor. Only half as strong as Adamantium. This is the standard issue of the larger ships of the Rayotian fleet. The armor can take a single powerful blow before it is taken down.

Tritanium Armor. It is the standard issue of all smaller ships in the Rayotian fleet. The armor is 3x the strength of Titanium. The armor can take a few shots from weaker weapons before it is broken down.

Titanium Armor. Only used in the Rayotian fleet if Rayotia is short on funds. Usually is found on civilian ships and transportation ships.

Weapons

Phasor - The Phasor fires a trans-light beam of phased energy that actually exists in several dimensions simultaneously.

Nuclear Missile - Carries a nuclear warhead.. Not as strong as the Merculite missile

Merculite Missile - The Merculite Missile carries a powerful, chemical explosive warhead.

Plasma Web - The Plasma Web launches an energy projectile that ensnares and clings to
the target ship. It envelopes them and also does damage over time. The victim ship must be the same size or smaller then the attacking ship in order for the plasma web to actually work. Destroying the attacker disables the web.

Plasma Cannon - The Plasma Cannon fires a tremendous blast of plasma energy, unfortunately, this volatile beam has poor cohesion and dissipates rapidly.

Gauss Cannons - The Gauss Cannon is an extremely powerful linear accelerator which hurls a massive burst of tiny projectiles at near light speed.

Plasma Torpedo -  The plasma torpedo is a viciously unstable projectile. It is a protostellar plasma barely confined in a guidance shell. Unfortunately, the energy bleed-off necessary to keep the warhead from destabilizing completely. (Translation: the farther the target is,
the less damage it will do)

Anti-Matter Bomb - The Anti-Matter Bomb is essentially a torpedo modified to survive atmospheric reentry. It is primarily used to bomb planets.

Pulsar - The Pulsar weapon emits a harmonic resonance field around a ship that creates violent vibrations in all ships, missiles, and fighters

Stellar Converter - The Stellar Converter is a tremendous plasma cannon powered by a near-perfectly efficient matter to energy conversion system. The Stellar Converter destroys an entire planet and turns it into an asteroid belt when fired from orbit. How Rayotian shields work.

Rayotian cells compose of a mesh of modified cells held between two thin barriers. These cells absorb energy and can stop projectiles. It will take in any energy, movement, lasers, plasma, etc. The cells are spread out and are connected by a mesh of "wires", that kind of act like nerves. When a projectile/beam hits the cells or wires, the energy is transferred to the cells. The cells can stop a bullet or missile dead in it's tracks and can easily absorb beam weapons, no exception to "shield piercing". However, the cells can only take so much at once. The cells "regenerate" by cooling down, which takes a few seconds at the very least. The cells can be overloaded, therefore, by hitting the shield enough in a limited time span, a hole can be made.

The strength of a shield is measured by class. It goes from Class I to Class X. What determines the strength is how closely all the cells are grouped. In a Class I shield, the cells are at least a fingerprint away from each other. Meaning the nerves are distributing the energy into fewer cells, making the cells more prone to overload. In a Class X shield, cells are only a nanometer apart. Meaning the energy is distributed to many local cells, making them less prone to overloading. It also makes the regeneration process a lot faster.

The shield can expand and retract, so the shield is not stationary. When the shield expands however, it is weaker, for the cells get farther apart, and of course, the shield gets stronger when it is retracted. The shield is in an elliptical sphere-like shape.

Avenger

It is quick and agile.  The assault ship of the Rayotian fleet. This is what makes up most of the space fleet.

Epson

Picture
Carries heavier weapons. Can move at a moderate speed. It is the support ship of the Rayotian fleet. This is usually paired with larger ship that can't protect themselves or can't fight smaller ships.

Energy Absorber (When the ship is shot, the absorber absorbs a quarter of the damage and fires the shot back at the enemy with the absorbed energy)

The Carrier

Its main function is to transport troops. It is massive in size and is armed quite well. It is usually paired with Epson's, which protect it. Can carry up to 25,000,000 troops

Rayotian Warship

Picture
Main Function? To completely obliterate fleets and scorch planet surface's. It is heavily armed and is usually accompanied by Epson's. Only about 500 of these have been made for they are very pricey. Operated by 1 million troops.

Rayotian Destroyer

The ship used against extremely large war ships. It is not massive, but it is not small either. It only has powerful weapons designed for taking down larger ships, therefore it cannot defend itself very well. It is quite fast.

Stealth Seeker

Picture
Looks to reveal and destroy cloaked ships. It is equipped with a pulsar, which releases a sphere of electromagnetic radiation, hitting anything within range. (More info under "Weapons"). It cannot see cloaked ships, therefore it has to know that there are cloaked ships present before it starts releasing pulses, or else its just wasting power.

Orion Globe

(Yes I know its the Death star, but I couldn't find a picture of the Doom Star) A planet destroyer. There is only one, for it is extremely costly. It uses a stellar converter, and it uses this to destroy planets by shooting through the core of the planet. It was inspired from the advancement of Artificial Planet Technology. It can go into hyper space, but rarely strays too far from the home planet. It is only used for self defense from war ships and to destroy planets that are owned by enemies of Rayotia (As a final blow)
